 El pasado fin de semana se celebró en Sopelana la última etapa del circuito ASP Europe Pro Junior, que ganaron el alemán Josh Schmeltzer y la francesa Pauline Ado. Aquí tenéis la crónica y las fotos.
El sábado 4 de agosto por la noche se instaló en Sopelana una marejada con olas que alcanzaban de un metro a metro y medio. Un ligero viento off-shore, dejó paso a final de la mañana a un viento side-shore constante. El tamaño de las olas no dejó de aumentar con la marea baja, lo que complicó la entrada al agua de los surfistas.

La competición ha dado comienzo el domingo 5 de agosto a las 8 horas con la categoría chicas. Las chicas fueron afortunadas porque pudieron disfrutar de las mejores condiciones y terminar las semis y las finales con buenas olas.
Laetitia Sudre
Al espectáculo no le ha faltado calidad y la final ha hecho contener la respiración a todos los espectadores. Canelle Bulard (FRA) y Laetia Sudre (REU) se batieron durante treinta minutos y aunque ambas han mostrado el potencial para obtener buenas puntuaciones, no se han encontrado con las olas necesarias.
Pauline Ado
Durante los 20 primeros minutos, la líder de esta final fue Justine Dupont con 6.67 y 5.43 puntos. Pero al final de la serie Pauline Ado pilló una derecha larga y potente de un metro y medio y ha encadenado cuatro maniobras que le han permitido ganar la prueba con 9.53 puntos, la mejor nota de toda la competición.
Por parte de los chicos, la organización se vio obligada a hacer un doble podium para recuperar el retraso de la primera jornada. Una de las actuaciones más destacadas de la jornada la protagonizó Nicolas Von Rupp (GER), que eliminó al cabeza de serie n° 7 Marc Lacomare (FRA) en cuartos de final. « … Ha sido difícil porque las olas podían venir de cualquier parte, pero al final pensaba que obtendría la puntuación necesaria para pasar la ronda porque he surfeado a mi nivel … » nos confesaba Marc Lacomare (FRA). Algunos minutos más tarde, una violenta tormenta entró en la playa de Sopelana poniendo en peligro las semifinales, pero finalmente bastó una pausa de treinta minutos para volver a la competición. Esta pausa fue bien acogida por los surfistas, agotados después de haber surfeado cinco series en el día, en condiciones difíciles y les permitió descansar antes de la final. 
Jean-Sébastien Estienne
Josh Schmeltzer (GER) recargó bien las pilas y obtuvo 8.83 puntos, dejando pocas posibilidades a los demás surfers. A pesar de todo, Nicolas Von Rupp (GER), Tim Stevenson (AUS) y Jean-Sébastien Estienne (GUA) trataron de seguirle, pero las cartas estaban echadas.
