La prueba del WQS, San Miguel Pro Zarautz se disputará a partir de mañana y hasta el próximo 5 de septiembre en aguas vascas con surfistas de gran nivel. Como novedad, este año la prueba cuenta con una estrella más, alcanzando así la puntuación máxima de 6 estrellas.
Zarautz volverá a acoger por cuarto año consecutivo el Campeonato del Mundo de Surf del circuito WQS, y lo hará con más nivel competitivo y ambición que nunca: por primera vez el San Miguel Pro Zarautz contará con una categoría de seis estrellas, el máximo posible y una más que el año pasado.
Habrá más puntos en juego, más premios a repartir, y más estrellas que nunca también sobre las olas.
La cita tendrá lugar del 31 de agosto, martes, al 5 de septiembre, domingo. El presupuesto de este año asciende a 300.000 euros, 80.000 más que el año pasado y se repartirán premios por valor de 145.000 dólares, de los que el ganador se embolsará 20.000.
Kutxa otorgará el premio al mejor guipuzcoano clasificado, con un trofeo y un premio en metálico de 600 euros que el año pasado recayó en Aritz Aranburu.
El evento congregará a miles de espectadores en directo en la playa de Zarautz y contará con una gran repercusión mediática. Competirán los ganadores de las tres ediciones disputadas hasta ahora, Aritz Aranburu (2007), Tim Boal (2008) y Gony Zubizarreta (2009), junto a varios riders clasificados este año entre los mejores 45 del mundo, zarauztarras como Hodei Collazo, Marcos San Segundo, Igor Muniain y Mario Azurza, y otros euskaldunes como Norman Landa, Eneko Acero o Txaber Trojaola.
Los organizadores confían en contar con mejores condiciones que el año pasado, cuando la final tuvo que adelantarse un día por la previsión de falta de olas. Habrá exhibiciones de graffiti con Igor Rezola ‘Dizebi’ y Martín, proyecciones de cortos en pantalla gigante, decoración de tablas y móviles, stands de ropa, comida, bebida y distintos productos, y sobre todo música, con noches dedicadas la electrónica, al reggae o al pop-rock.
Un extenso cartel de conciertos que reunirá a grupos como los catalanes Pinkertones, los getxotarras Olimpic, Gregtown, Microguagua, No Aloha, Layabouts, o Smile. Ofrecen estilos muy distintos pero tienen en común su pujanza dentro de la música alternativa.
Otro invitado de lujo será Ibon Errazkin, todo un referente de la escena independiente, presentado en formato de dj. Sin dejar de lado a los zarauztarras Buffalo, que al igual que ocurre sobre las olas tendrán la ocasión de dejar el pabellón local bien alto, tal y como hicieron el año pasado, o los también locales A13.
